Hebei University of Economics and Business 47 Xuefu Road Shijiazhuang Hebei To Whom It May Concern: I have known Xiao Yanhui (Steven) since April 2004 when I commenced teaching English at the Hebei University of Economics and Business, Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, China. Steven provides great assistance to me in my daily life at the University. Steven works in the University Foreign Affairs Office and part of his duties is to assist foreign teachers, such as me, with problems faced in daily living. I have extremely limited Chinese language skills and I have come to rely on Steven to assist me with many daily matters. This includes shopping, going to the bank or post office and going to the doctor. Steven acts as my interpreter when dealing with local people. I know that he extends similar services to the other foreign teachers at the University. His oral English skills are very good. I have been very impressed with the willing way he offers assistance. No matter what my problem or the time I ask for help he always seems to make the time necessary to attend to my needs. He does this while successfully pursuing two degrees at the University and doing his administrative duties in the Foreign Affairs Office. As well as his arduous study and work program he still makes time to enjoy his recreational pursuits of Kong-fu, tai ji and running. He has helped me learn some of the more intricate moves in tai ji and joins me on long distance runs. Our relationship has changed from being one of accepting assistance to friendship. His strengths are obviously his high level of English, his strong time management skills and the friendly and relaxed way that he interacts with people. I have observed his interactions with teachers and officials at the University and while I didn't understand the conversations, his non-verbal communication demonstrated a very respectful and relaxed communication style. He is very helpful, courteous and friendly. I greatly admire his dedication to his studies and duties. I have no hesitation in recommending Steven to you. I am confident that you will be gaining an employee who will work very hard and contribute to the positive outcomes of your organization. I am very happy to expand on my comments regarding Steven.
